Oklahoma City has the honor being both the capital and the largest city in Oklahoma. Founded during the Land Run of 1889, over 10,000 people settled there within hours of the city's founding. The city deals heavily in livestock, oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products. Tinker Air Force Base and the US government also provide quite a few jobs in the area. Although they were dubbed one of the most recession proof cities in America by Forbes Magazine, Oklahoma City is not a town of all work and no play. Visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens - This downtown urban park provides visitors with 17 acres of beautifully manicured gardens. The garden is home to the Crystal Bridge, a tropical conservatory that was designed by world renowned architect I.M. Pei. The conservatory contains over 1000 species of plant life that represents plants found on every continent in the world except Antarctica. The Water Stage is also located at the Myriad which hosts the Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park program. Visit the Renaissance and take in such classics as Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Taming of the Shrew.

Go to the Frontier City Theme Park - Return to the Wild West with this themed amusement park. Containing over 75 rides, this theme park has an adventure for just about every member of the family. There's Paul Bunyan's Tiny Lumber Town for kids, thrill rides for the adrenaline junkies, and games for those who like to test their luck. Round it all out with live shows by big name stars like Emily Osment, Diana Reyes, and Kris Allen and you have yourself a family fun night that you'll be talking about for days to come. The park's peak times of operation are June to August.

Enjoy the Nightlife - Whether you are looking for a place to show off your dance moves or want a romantic table for two, Oklahoma City has a wide variety of night spots to satisfy your every mood. Danny's Blues Saloon provides you with live music to rock out to every night while Tap Werks Ale House and Café is the perfect place to relax with a beer and cigar.
